One million rupiah split in front of you
Scroll and the note above divides among the eight asnaf on the figures we use every day, including the 12.5 percent amil share written plainly because that is our own operating cost. At the end the note becomes a receipt, like the one we issue for every disbursement.
Rp8,940,000,000
zakat received during 2025 from 6,412 donors
Rp7,640,000,000
disbursed in the same year, the remainder went out in January 2026
9.4
percent spent on operations, out of the 12.5 percent amil share we are allowed
11
days on average from money arriving to a recipient holding it
1,038
applications received, 674 approved, 364 refused
How one application is checked
Application arrives, day 0
By form at the office or by WhatsApp. We record a name, an address, a household number, and one sentence of need. We do not ask for photographs of the house at this stage.
Home visit, days 3 to 7
Two surveyors go together, not one, and fill in the same sheet. The photographs they take stay in the internal file and are never published on social media.
Cross check, days 8 to 11
Statements from the neighbourhood heads are compared against government aid records, so one household does not receive twice from different sources without our knowing.
Eligibility meeting, every Tuesday
Five people decide, and the decision is written down with its reason. Of 1,038 applications in 2025, 364 were refused and the applicant can ask why.
Disbursement and receipt, days 11 to 14
Transferred to the recipient's account where there is one, handed over in cash against a signed record where there is not. Every disbursement gets a receipt number.
Follow up, day 90
For the working capital programme only. A surveyor returns, writes down what happened, and the failure rate is published without being smoothed.
One application, from day zero to the receipt
Five programmes, and one thing we refuse
The 2025 figures, counted off the receipts issued.
Monthly food support
412 households at Rp450,000 a month, for at most six consecutive months. After the sixth there is a review, and last year 118 households were not renewed.
School fees
268 children from year one to year twelve. It covers fees, uniform and transport, paid straight to the school rather than to the parents.
Interest free working capital
96 traders, Rp3,000,000 on average, repaid over twenty months with nothing added. Repayment runs at 71 percent, and those who fail are never passed to a debt collector.
Medical costs
134 patients, capped at Rp7,500,000 per person per year. Paid directly to the hospital, and we do not cover anything the national insurance already covers.
Urgent debt relief
41 people in the gharimin category, capped at Rp5,000,000. Only for medical, food and rent debts, never for debts taken on to buy goods.
What we will not fund
No zakat money builds our own office, funds political activity, or buys advertising. All three come out of general donations, which are accounted for separately.
Why the amil share is written on the front page
The amil share is the manager's portion, and the law of zakat caps it at one eighth. We take 12.5 percent, and that is the hatched block on the note above. What is not always written elsewhere is how much of it is actually spent. In 2025 our amil share came to Rp1,117,500,000, while the money that actually went out was Rp842,000,000. The difference of Rp275,500,000 went back into the programmes rather than into a reserve.
That cost is not a dark number. It is eleven salaries, the office rent in Cikini, the cost of home visits, and the audit fee. The breakdown is in the financial statement published every March.
The disbursement report is published on the 10th of each month for the month before, with the number of receipts, the rupiah total, and the split by asnaf. The annual accounts are examined by Rahmat Wibisana and Partners, chartered accountants, who have given an unqualified opinion for four years running since 2022. One finding in 2023, 17 cash records missing a second witness signature, is written in that report and has since been fixed.
The capital was Rp3,000,000, I paid back Rp150,000 a month for twenty months, and when trade was slow for three months nobody rang to chase me.Rohmah, vegetable seller at Pasar Kramat, working capital recipient 2023
What donors ask
How much zakat maal do I owe?
Two and a half percent of wealth held for a full year above the threshold. Our threshold follows the price of 85 grams of gold, which on 1 September 2026 came to Rp127,500,000.
Can I choose the recipient?
You can choose the category, for example only fakir and miskin, but not the person. If the category you chose is already full that month, we ask you before moving it.
When does my money go out?
Eleven days on average, counted from the money arriving to the recipient signing for it. The longest last year was 38 days, for one hospital bill in another city.
How do I find my receipt?
The receipt number is sent by WhatsApp within three working days of disbursement, with the category, the amount and the date. It can be matched against the monthly report on the 10th.
What happens to money left over?
Money not yet disbursed at year end stays recorded as the recipients' money, not as foundation income. At the end of 2025 that was Rp458,000,000, and all of it went out in January 2026.
Can I check the evidence myself?
You can. The disbursement files can be read at the Cikini office with two days' notice. Recipient names are covered, but the receipt numbers, amounts and dates are open.
